D'Chez Eux, Paris

The Spaniards Inn, Hampstead

Nestling about halfway between Hampstead and Highgate at the top of Hampstead Heath, this 400 year old inn is a historical highpoint in London's pub culture. Famously popular with literary figures such as Keats and Wordsworth, the pub now plays host to all comers, and is particularly great as a stop after a walk on the Heath or a visit to Kenwood House nearby. The icelandic cod and chips is a wonder and the large garden is great in summer.

Car hire

Obviously there are many big chain options for car hire (Avis, Budget, etc) but for to avoid the hassle of insurance excesses and don't mind booking via the web, EasyCar is the way to go. Just make sure you get the car back on time! Earl's Court is your nearest pick-up point. Or, even closer, on Britannia Road--a five minute walk-- is Alamo/National. Their location code is LON75.
