5 reasons you will want to stay
at what guests say is the best London B&B.
5 important questions you might have about
Barclay House London boutique luxury B&B
answered by the people that know best - the owners!
Who’s your typical guest?
Globe trotters who know how to get around big cities the world over, or are keen to learn; from photographers on a shoot for Gucci to empty nesters, nomads, families and high-tech execs who have been able to take off time to explore the great city of London.
What about tech/ internet in a brick London town house?
WiFi is super important; all of our guests rely on their apps for guidance, maps, info on opening times etc. We have the fastest, SECURE internet available in the UK & USB ports are in each room, so no need to fiddle with adapters (although we have plenty of those, too).
How does your London B&B differ from a small boutique hotel in London?
We offer three boutique-styled guest rooms in our large London townhome; there’s no reception desk or extra public space. This means more room and privacy for you.
Our neighborhood is an important part of our guests' London experience. With the tube station around the corner and lots of restaurants, cafes and award-winning pubs, we have the ‘local’ feel that guests want to experience in London. Some of the best gelato in London is available right around the corner from us. WholeFoods is in our back yard. A public green park (Eel Brook Common) is on our doorstep & the river is not far. Joggers delight! The 11 and 14/414 buses cross London from here as well as the Tube/Underground (2-minute walk).
Best Apps right now for your stay in London?
BUSTIMES gets you everywhere on the red double deckers.
TIMEOUT Magazine, London for events, listings, tips, best of lists, reviews and weekly suggestions of 'what's on'.
XE for exchange rates. Quick and easy conversions.
Google Maps is a must for walking, bus and tube distances.
CITIMAPPER is also very handy.
Where do you like to stay when you travel?
My husband and I seek out good value with extra touches that make a big difference; in Paris we have a great little hotel that hits all the right buttons — we have to walk a few more blocks to the Metro, but through a lively, local pedestrianized zone of family bakeries and cafes, so that’s an added bonus. We pick up a bottle of wine and fresh cheese on the way back to our hotel. Same for Florence, Rome and many other places that we escape to now and then. Excellent beds and powerful showers are my top requirement. No carpets; clean floors. Fresh air (so that means working windows that are sparkling and shiny!). We share our where-to-stay secrets with guests over a glass of wine and a jazz tune on the grand piano here at 21 Barclay Road London SW6.
